- The delivery of HMP Glasgow as a replacement for HMP Barlinnie is a flagship project for the Scottish Prison Service. The site of the new prison, located in the Provanmill area of Glasgow, was acquired in late 2020 and procurement activity commenced in October 2021. Following a two-stage process, Kier Construction Limited were awarded a contract to provide pre-construction services in August 2022 to develop a design for the facility to RIBA Stage 4 and were awarded the contract for the construction stage in January 2025.
