Procurement / Project Information
Project Wren Scope:
The Whitehall District Heating System (WDHS) is currently powered by 4 large boilers and supplies heat to 17 Buildings across Whitehall in London. Project WREN (Whitehall Renewable Energy Network), aims to provide enabling works to potentially decarbonise the WDHS in future years to come.
Project WREN will reduce the operating temperature from 145 degrees to 95 degrees and introduce a variable flow rate across the system; to achieve this the project will need to replace 49 Plate Heat Exchangers across 24 plant rooms in 11 buildings, as well as carrying out some modifications to the primary side pumps within the main boiler house. The new PHE's must be capable to withstand a potential second drop in operating temperature in the future to 65 degrees.
Not all plantrooms are the same and therefore all designs will need to be tailored to each specific plantroom. The contract will be a design and build contract, the contractor will be given a RIBA 3 developed design which they will progress to a RI... - Documents :
