Night time support across the borough of Cheshire West and Chester is an area with increasing demand, but little service provision. Often, if a person suffers from a fall, they are reliant on the ambulance service and often subject to hours of waiting and discomfort whilst they are left on the floor. If there is an emergency, family members are having to offer support or care providers are having to amend shifts in crisis, keeping staff members on calls longer than expected, thus impacting their whole planned care run.
Cheshire West and Chester are interested in speaking with providers who have experience in, or are interested in, delivering a night time support service for residents who live in their own home but are in receipt of social care.
We are exploring different models of care which could offer residents and other care providers a contingency support element. We want to speak to providers who may be able to deliver a mobile night time support service, where issues like falls, or safe and well calls can be addressed via this service.
The discussions in relation to this service are in their infancy, and we welcome any ideas or shared learning that providers may have. Our initial thinking is that we would like to have a borough wide mobile response service, with trained staff who can pick people up off the floor and can respond to a person should they trigger an alarm.
