- In September 2026 the NFCC will be hosting the 2nd meeting of the World Fire Congress. The World Fire Congress (WFC) was created to bring together Fire and Rescue Services across the world to meet and address the many common issues, risks and challenges that fire and rescue services are facing - from operational responses, to the impact of climate change and extreme weather events, to work around culture and diversity, to firefighter mental and physical health and wellbeing, to wider sharing of learning and good practice. The Congress seeks to grow and deepen international collaboration across fire and rescue services - bringing the benefits of shared understanding and experience to tackle the challenges that fire services face globally.
The inaugural WFC was held in the USA in April 2024, attracting delegates from over 50 different countries across the world.
As a bi-annual event, the UK will host the 2026 WFC. The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) will be taking the lead and be responsible for the hosting of the 2026 event, which will be held at the QE2 Conference Centre in central London. The event poses a significant opportunity for NFCC and UK Fire and Rescue Services to host a major international event, raising the profile and reputation of UK Fire and Rescue; generating new opportunities to learn from and share international best practice, and demonstrating our value and capabilities - both to UK governments and wider national and international par... - Documents:
