Description : Pladda Lighthouse is situated on the pear-shaped Island of Pladda half a mile off the South East corner of Arran at Latitude 55o 25.5' N, Longitude 05o 07.3' W. The current light, which was automated in 1990, stands 29 meters high and is situated 40 metres above sea level. The light has a white flashing character (3) every 30 seconds giving a nautical range of 17 miles. The only property the NLB currently own on the Island is the lighthouse tower, the smaller tower below, the link corridor building between both towers, and the solar panel structure. All remaining buildings and land are privately owned. Due to the location of this site, the majority of materials and equipment will be transported to and from site via NLB Tender & Helicopter.
