Market Testing - Experts by Experience services
1. Overview
Camden Council is reviewing its Experts by Experience contract for people with learning disabilities, which is due to expire in October 2026, with a view to deciding whether and how to recommission this service.

This service is separate from the range of advocacy, welfare advice, and support services in Camden.

2. Details of the service
Our Experts by Experience service is a ‘speaking up- service which aims to deliver personalised support that empowers people with learning disabilities to influence the planning, development and evaluation of relevant local services. This service employs a full-time manager and up to seven experts by experience (people with learning disabilities), working alongside members and volunteers with learning disabilities, to meet the outcomes stated below:
• Improved ability to speak up for themselves and to have their voice heard.
• Improved partnership working between citizens and the Council to ensure services and policies are coproduced with people who use the services.
• Improved awareness of health and social care services available to people with learning disabilities with the view of leading to greater take up of these services.
• Improved awareness of learning disabilities across the Camden community with a particular focus on health and social care services, with improved access and reasonable adjustments.
